In recent years feminism has become a more prominent and, more importantly, relevant issue in society. Of course, there are still many people who hate on feminism and us 'feminazis' (really?) but it has also become a more popular and almost "fashionable" movement. Feminism is not a dirty word, my friends.
It is more encouraged, celebrated, and publicised than ever before and I predict that it will only prosper from here on out. You might be wondering where I'm going with this feminist rant and how this has anything to do with fashion. Well...
Where some people think fashion to be superficial and materialistic, I see it as a way of expression. It's just another way of showing who you are to yourself, and whoever else you care about telling. Which is why (here it is; the point) when I see any items out there that promote girl love and equality I must own them. Immediately. Also, what better time to create this post than Women's History Month.
SO, I've put together a little list of all the fun feminist garb and products I could find... that I will probably go on to buy as soon as I've published this post. Let's get started!
1. GRL PWR jumper - H&M
I've realised recently that most of my wardrobe has become pink. I love it, but I've always tried to stay away from things that are considered "girly". But I can't help it. Yes there's a feminist movement called 'Pink Stinks' that campaigns against the stereotype that girls have to be girly and wear pink and play with dolls. And I completely agree. But I also love pink. So here is an awesome jumper that embraces the girlishness that is pink whilst simultaneously telling the world that we can wear whatever the f*ck we want.
This is pretty much the same idea. If you're not a hoodie kinda gal here's an option for you! Express that girl love. At only £9.99 it's a bargain!
Okay so I actually already own this one in purple. It's not the most accurate translation but you get the idea - Woman Freedom. I normally style mine with a pair of jeans and my Stan Smiths. It's pretty and to the point. It's almost completely sold out so get it before it's gone!
So this t-shirt was originally designed and made in 1972 for Labyris Books, the first women's bookstore in New York City. The slogan has stayed with the feminist community since then and is now just as relevant. It's such a strong and positive message, I may have to purchase one right now. The store is based in the US so it may not ship to everyone but it's definitely worth a look. As far as I can see the site doesn't say where they ship to but pop them an email! 25% of proceeds go to Planned Parenthood so that's a bonus!
I found this little gem scouring through endless items in the 'special prices' section of Zara (which I recently learned is their sneaky, more affordable section of clothing). The design has a long list of characteristics that represent empowerment so it caters to every gal out there! It's only £5.99 which is amazing! Buy now thank later.
You can find both these on the skinnydip website for loads of different phones. They have so many great designs but obv these are my favourites. AND they match the items I've already shown you.
I love this store so much. They have amazing stationery and home accessories so have a browse if you're stationery obsessed like me. They have loads of different styles and themes so there's something for everyone. This journal is perfect for that feminist manifesto you've been dying to write... or just for note making. No pressure.
So, if you've made it this far thanks for reading! I hope you liked my picks and enjoyed my rant.
Here's another site purely dedicated to feminist garb - Feminist Apparel - if you didn't like anything on my list you're sure to find something here.
Stay sassy,
