Feminist Finds

I have always been what some would call a 'raging feminist' (I use this term positively). It started at an early age and grew stronger, and more rooted, as I learned more about it in high school and then at university.
In recent years feminism has become a more prominent and, more importantly, relevant issue in society. Of course, there are still many people who hate on feminism and us 'feminazis' (really?) but it has also become a more popular and almost "fashionable" movement. Feminism is not a dirty word, my friends.
It is more encouraged, celebrated, and publicised than ever before and I predict that it will only prosper from here on out. You might be wondering where I'm going with this feminist rant and how this has anything to do with fashion. Well...

Where some people think fashion to be superficial and materialistic, I see it as a way of expression. It's just another way of showing who you are to yourself, and whoever else you care about telling. Which is why (here it is; the point) when I see any items out there that promote girl love and equality I must own them. Immediately. Also, what better time to create this post than Women's History Month.

SO, I've put together a little list of all the fun feminist garb and products I could find... that I will probably go on to buy as soon as I've published this post. Let's get started!

1. GRL PWR jumper - H&M

I've realised recently that most of my wardrobe has become pink. I love it, but I've always tried to stay away from things that are considered "girly". But I can't help it. Yes there's a feminist movement called 'Pink Stinks' that campaigns against the stereotype that girls have to be girly and wear pink and play with dolls. And I completely agree. But I also love pink. So here is an awesome jumper that embraces the girlishness that is pink whilst simultaneously telling the world that we can wear whatever the f*ck we want.

This is pretty much the same idea. If you're not a hoodie kinda gal here's an option for you! Express that girl love. At only £9.99 it's a bargain!

Okay so I actually already own this one in purple. It's not the most accurate translation but you get the idea - Woman Freedom. I normally style mine with a pair of jeans and my Stan Smiths. It's pretty and to the point. It's almost completely sold out so get it before it's gone!

So this t-shirt was originally designed and made in 1972 for Labyris Books, the first women's bookstore in New York City. The slogan has stayed with the feminist community since then and is now just as relevant. It's such a strong and positive message, I may have to purchase one right now. The store is based in the US so it may not ship to everyone but it's definitely worth a look. As far as I can see the site doesn't say where they ship to but pop them an email! 25% of proceeds go to Planned Parenthood so that's a bonus!

I found this little gem scouring through endless items in the 'special prices' section of Zara (which I recently learned is their sneaky, more affordable section of clothing). The design has a long list of characteristics that represent empowerment so it caters to every gal out there! It's only £5.99 which is amazing! Buy now thank later.

You can find both these on the skinnydip website for loads of different phones. They have so many great designs but obv these are my favourites. AND they match the items I've already shown you.

I love this store so much. They have amazing stationery and home accessories so have a browse if you're stationery obsessed like me. They have loads of different styles and themes so there's something for everyone. This journal is perfect for that feminist manifesto you've been dying to write... or just for note making. No pressure.

So, if you've made it this far thanks for reading! I hope you liked my picks and enjoyed my rant.
Here's another site purely dedicated to feminist garb - Feminist Apparel - if you didn't like anything on my list you're sure to find something here.

Stay sassy,

Autumn/Winter Trend: Aviator Jacket

JACKET - TOPSHOP (sold out; similar, similar)
JUMPER - ASOS
CULOTTES - NEW LOOK
SHOES - ADIDAS (foot asylum)
WATCH - DANIEL WELLINGTON
BRACELET - ASOS (sold out; similar)
RING - ASOS (sold out; similar)

I searched every corner of the interwebs to find the perfect aviator jacket. I have wanted an Acne velocite jacket for a long time, so when dupes were finding themselves in high street stores I went on a mission. I'm sure fashion lovers will understand the need to find a specific item in the exact style and material you have created in your mind; it might not exist but you'll make damn sure you've scoured every single website possible to find the closest thing to it. I originally planned on buying a black aviator but by the time I found this Topshop one they were all gone. This colour is just as me as a black one would have been so I'm more than happy.
I don't know what it is that made me so determined to find one but they're incredibly cool and practical which is all you really need in a coat! It's very high quality and has an edgy biker look courtesy of the silver buckles around the shoulders and base of the coat. So, everyone stop what you're doing and purchase one immediately.
Now that my rant is over I can also tell you that these culottes are amazing considering they're only £15. They're super comfortable, will go with anything and are much easier than wrestling with a pair of skinny jeans. As you can tell I'm pretty obsessed with this outfit.

The Art of Androgyny

JUMPER - TOPSHOP (similar)
TROUSERS - TOPSHOP (similar)
SHOES - ASOS

Here is another 70s look I'm obsessed with. I think a roll neck can give any outfit a bit of a 70s vibe and this one is super flattering because of the horizontal stripes. The androgyny of this look is why I love wearing it. It's such an easy outfit to wear and kind of cool in an effortless way. I'm a huge fan of mixing masculine pieces with feminine pieces because no one is just one or the other; in life and in fashion. You shouldn't be limited with what you wear and I'm a firm believer in dressing for yourself. It's fairly easy to attain an androgynous look, just mix and match pieces that you would normally consider "masculine" or "feminine". Even items you may not normally consider putting together. In my opinion, the shoes always tend to set the tone of an outfit, especially in this case. Footwear like brogues and oxfords are typically considered masculine due to them originally being worn by men. So add a pair of these to a more feminine looking outfit and you're golden! Of course, trousers help too!

Better late than never?

COAT - H&M (similar, similar)
JUMPER - ASOS
DRESS - TOPSHOP (similar)
SHOES - ASOS (similar, similar)

I'm maybe the least consistent blogger in the blogosphere. I gain the slightest bit of momentum, post once or twice (possibly three times if a miracle happens), fall off the face of the earth (blearth?) for months and then it happens all over again. So apologies, follower. I know how you wait with bated breath for each insightful and incredibly original outfit post. Enjoy.

There are a lot of popular 70s trends this season. An obvious one is the polo neck which has become crazy popular and for good reason. They're versatile and, in my opinion, add a smart and classy feel to any outfit. The square ring belt, full length zip, and the overall silhouette of this Topshop dress make it a perfect 70s staple for your wardrobe. It can be slightly uncomfortable at times as it can feel tight but I love it.

Dreamy Denim

TOP - BRANDY MELVILLE (similar, similar)
DRESS - TOPSHOP
TRAINERS - SCHUH

Denim is a major trend this summer and I'm finding it so difficult to restrain myself from buying any possible item of clothing that comes in denim. I've already caved on this dress and a denim button down skirt... and I almost caved the other day into buying yet another pair of jeans and a denim jacket. I think the amazing thing about denim is that it is so versatile. You can literally wear it with anything and year after year it never goes out of style. Basically, I'm trying to convince myself that it is never a waste of money yo buy denim!
This piece in particular is a fun and slightly girlie alternative to jeans and surprisingly comfy! Everyone should have a few unique denim items this summer.

Back to Black

JUMPER - URBAN OUTFITTERS (sold out)
JEANS - TOPSHOP
SHOES - ADIDAS
JEWELLERY - REGAL ROSE

I say 'back to black' but it's not entirely accurate... 'still black' would probably be more truthful. Even though it's April and technically spring I'm finding it difficult to say goodbye to the monochrome, goth-like attire I have come to love. However, being that I live in the wonderfully cold city of Liverpool we had a particularly wet and dull day this past weekend which meant I could wear my favourite jumper once again. I realise many people will not be wearing anything like this outfit in the coming months, assuming that the weather gets warmer, but I had to post this one. I also had to showcase my new Stan Smiths which I'm completely obsessed with. They're so huge with bloggers at the moment so I think they're going to be a spring/summer staple.

I can't say I'm ready to let go of my autumn/winter clothes but I will certainly try... for the sake of new denim and cat-eye sunglasses. Sacrifices must be made.

The Obsession Continues...

JUMPER - TOPSHOP (sand, pink)
JEANS - TOPSHOP
BOOTS - VAGABOND
BAG - TOPSHOP
HAT - TOPSHOP
NECKLACE - TOPSHOP

I try so hard to resist spending all of my money at Topshop. I try to branch out and mix styles from different places; Urban Outfitters is a favourite, Zara too, but the pull is just too strong! I feel like I can always find what I want there, the style is perfect for me. So here is a prime example of my obsession. Head to toe, accessories and all. Topshop. This post is basically a love letter... as are most of my outfits to be perfectly honest with you.
The outfit is pretty casual. It is probably more casual than I tend to dress but I love the simplicity of it. These Jamie jeans are the best. They're so comfy and the ripped knees add such a cool edge to the look.

Thanks for checking out my blog! Happy new year!
